Xuedan Gao is a new media artist and music technologist based in Helsinki and Beijing. Her practice centers on sound, installation, and improvisational performance. She explores non-instrumentalized ways of using technology and builds systems in which control is partially relinquished, allowing machines, materials, and non-human processes to shape perception over time. She holds an MS in Music Technology from Georgia Institute of Technology and a BA in Art and Technology from Beijing Film Academy.
